renovations coming along!!!
we had an unforgettable valentine's day this year - shopping for toilet bowl!!!!! hee... plus many other home accessories =))) at the end of the day, vin and i took stock of what we accomplished and are very impressed with ourselves!!! this is what we bought:
1) kitchen hob and hood @ $550
2) water heater @ $120
3) toilet basin @ $90+
4) toilet bowl @ $150+
5) kitchen sink and tap @ $120+
all from 3 different places!!!!! simply amazing how God blessed us... cos for each place, there is a minimum of $400 you have to spend before they will waive the delivery charge. the heaviest item is the toilet bowl so we had to make sure that this is shipped.
wanted to buy our toilet bowl @ $170+ from sim siang choon but in order to waive the delivery charge of $40, we had to buy more items to hit the $400 mark. this meant we had to buy their toilet basin @ $110+ and some miscellaneous items on top of the kitchen sink and tap that we already intended to buy. but it was so hard to come up with the miscellaneous items and we were in a fix.
then we went to chuan heng to check out their stuff and found a cheaper toilet bowl @ $150+!!! but they too had a delivery charge but it was only $10, but that didnt substantiate us having to buy the toilet bowl from this place at only $10 cheaper (after factoring in the delivery charge). but a part of me just didnt want to pay any delivery charge at all, so vin and me walked out to think for awhile, what was the best solution. we walked a few steps away and somehow came to their other shop front, 2 shops away and this shop had kitchen hoods and hobs on display. so we decided to walk in to query just for market knowledge.
we had intended to buy a set which cost $640+ but our contractor could get it for us @ $590. we thought that only our contractor could get us such a good price cos distributors would most likely have to sell @ list price. it's really by God's direction that led us to go in to inquire and the guy told us he would sell it to us @ $550!!! wow praise the Lord! and this would be above $400 so we could buy the toilet bowl @ 150+ w/o incurring delivery charge!!!
anyway after that lengthy post (so many numbers and words hor? hope i didnt confuse you hahaha), show you pictures of our home in original condition (just after the previous tenant vacated). will post pictures of our place along the way so you can see the process!!! ^_^

one side of our tiny toilet - our toilet is the place in our home where we spent the most time racking our brains and squeezing our creative juices on how to design it... cos of the space constraint and the huge pipes in the middle... our kitchen is a close second cos of the many huge pipes everywhere that we need to conceal...
the huge pipes and the toilet bowl squeezed in a corner
